Metal Print • Float Mount

The Metal Print uses ChromaLuxe, the premier material for professional metal printing. Through dye sublimation, the photograph is infused directly into a specially coated .045" aluminum panel, creating exceptional clarity, rich color, deep blacks, and luminous depth.

ChromaLuxe prints are durable, moisture-resistant, fade-resistant, scratch-resistant, and easy to clean, making them ideal for long-term display.

Available Finishes

Gloss: Maximum color, contrast, vibrancy, and depth. Best for rooms where reflections are minimal.

Semi-Gloss: Beautiful color and detail with reduced glare. Recommended when the artwork will hang directly across from a window or other strong light source. It is also a great choice for images with deep, dark black tonalities, as heavier areas of black can appear more reflective in a gloss finish. Semi-gloss helps reduce that reflectivity while maintaining excellent color and detail.

For the best viewing experience with a metal print, consider the lighting in the room when choosing the finish. If the artwork will hang directly across from a window or strong light source, I recommend a semi-gloss finish to help reduce reflections. If the print will not face a window directly, a glossy finish is a great option for maximum color, contrast, and vibrancy.

Upon placing your order, I will reach out to you to determine your preferred finish.

Metal prints are simple to maintain. Use a soft, damp microfiber cloth to remove dust or fingerprints. Avoid abrasive pads and harsh solvents. When handled and displayed properly, panels retain color and surface quality for many years.

Ready to hang • Archival and fade resistant • Scratch and abrasion resistant • Moisture and stain resistant • Easy to clean • Exceptional color vibrancy and clarity • Dimensional image depth • Lightweight aluminum construction • Sleek, modern aesthetic

Float Mount — a hidden frame attached to the back of the fine art print that makes it appear to float off the wall. This separation gives the artwork a floating, dimensional appearance and adds depth to the presentation. Ready to hang.

Ben Lomond Peak, Ogden, Utah, fine art metal print
Shown here is the front of a 48" × 27" metal print with a gloss finish, featuring an image I photographed of Ben Lomond Peak. This large-format piece was created specifically for my client’s office, where the blue tones in the sky were intentionally color-keyed to complement the office’s blue interior walls.

The back of a metal print, featuring its float mount system. Please note that the style and configuration of the float mount may vary depending on the print lab I use and the size of the finished metal print. Smaller metal prints may use a narrower, lower-profile float mount, while larger prints typically require a wider, more substantial mounting system for added support.

The cutting of metal for printing.

Shown here is the back of a ChromaLuxe® aluminum panel as it is precisely trimmed to size using a Colex cutting machine. This computer-controlled process creates clean, accurate edges and ensures each metal print is cut to its exact finished dimensions. The reflective aluminum shown here is the unfinished back of the panel; the front features a specially coated white surface designed for dye-sublimation printing and has a very different finished appearance. The image-facing surface is carefully inspected for a clean, pristine presentation. Because the reverse side is not visible once the artwork is installed, minor marks or variations may occasionally be present on the back without affecting the finished artwork.

Optional Finished Black Backing: For those who prefer a more refined appearance on the back of the print, a finished black backing can be added for an additional charge. It includes a 1/4" black polystyrene backing and a 3/4" black frame, creating a clean black-on-black appearance while adding rigidity, weight, and extra protection. If you would like to add this option to your print for the additional charge, please mention it in the order “Comments” box at checkout.
